Theme of the 6th Symposium: Integrating TDM strategies
Currently, in the pursuit of low carbon transport and under the pressure of energy shortages and price rises, TDM strategies are increasingly important for residents, traffic engineers and transport policy makers. Research has shown that the greatest potential of TDM lies in integrating varied TDM strategies into a package in which these strategies can complement and reinforce each other. For example, the effectiveness of the London Congestion Charging Scheme has been improved by introducing tougher parking control. In China, a number of cities are moving towards flexible work scheduling while improving their public transit services. Integrating TDM strategies to mitigate traffic congestion will be an important trend in the coming decade. This Symposium aims to provide a forum where researchers, practitioners of various kinds, policy makers and regulators can share research results, experience and ideas on the most effective deployment of TDM. We invite you to this Symposium. All contributions relevant to this theme are welcome, whether theoretical or practical.
Publication of Invited Papers
A subset of the papers presented at the Symposium will be invited for submission to two special issues in Transportmetrica Part B: Transport Dynamics and Transport. These will consist of 12-14 papers. The remaining papers will be considered for inclusion in a book to be published by Ashgate Publishers.
